It's not weird but it is irrelevant to the conversation if you just opened her and sends the wrong message. Also I think that it gives her an easy way to disqualify you and leave if its very early on in the interaction. (If she doesn't have one and is just saying yes to get out of the conversation).

Also to me when it comes to questions, if it's not going to help me build a connection with the girl or isn't logistics to set up a date than I see no reason to ask.

I usually casually ask in a conversation’ how’s your love life’? If the person wants to talk about it you can talk about past, present and future relationships. It’s a good conversation topic which I also use with guys
