(For reference, we’re both in high school)

So I’ve developed feelings for this one girl who I use to like, moved on from, but then now caught feelings for again. I guess I’ve always had feelings for her and I just ever really accepted it until now.

For some backstory, we use to talk with each other for a while face to face (never text though until last Saturday) during our lunch period. There were awkward moments or days where we would just sit in silence and times where I regret stuff that I should/shouldn’t have said but overall, I’d like to say that our interactions at the time were pretty good and decent. I even asked her out; she rejected me since she “wasn’t interested in dating” at the time or something along those lines and I respected that (I still do). Honestly, I was pretty bummed out but I felt proud that hey, I at least shot my shot and received an answer (when she said no at the time, she was smiling, laughing, and blushing pretty hard. Obviously she didn’t like me but it’s just good to note).

Anyway, now for the story: I was over at a friends’ house last Saturday just hanging out with 3 of my friends when I suddenly had an urge to text her for the first time ever. I decided “fuck it” and shot a text message to her; to my surprise, she actually responded and seemed to receive it well enough. We started texting and she used a lot of emojis and even asked me how my day was and everything. She seemed to play around a lot and we just messed around with each other (like light banter).

Fast forward to today and I think I fucked up; I asked for some advice from my friend/cousin and she said that I screwed up. I’m not surprised but still it was like a “oof yikes” moment for me. I asked for her advice and she snatched the phone from me and shot a message to the girl; the girl responded with “pay attention to class 👊” and “I” (my friend/cousin) replied with “😂😂” “pay attention too”.

So did I fuck up? What can I do to fix the situation? I was thinking of giving her some space and a few days before texting her again. What else can I do?
