Few things: 1. You were too concerned about the surroundings(it’s normal in the beginning) 2. Don’t stress too much on your looks, it doesn’t really matter 3. You are already doing great but it’s really important to think a bit further what would you do with the number? She might try to be nice and punch it in your phone, why would she really bother to pick the call or reply you later? What’s in it for her?

It feels good to get a number.

I’d suggest you ask a better question? Did she have fun when I was talking to her? Did I have fun?

Finally, asking for number should always be intermediary, talk about some future adventures or your next crazy dance meetup and place the phone infront of her, she’ll punch it in.

The thing I don’t like about personality tests is that people tend to look at them like some would astrological signs. You aren’t defined by a personality trait. Sure it can be beneficial to get an introspective look at yourself but saying that you’re self conscious about yourself because of your personality trait is sooooo very limiting. Own your shit! To answer your question, no it’s not about staying longer even at the expense of your knees, it’s about having a conversation and including yourself in their circle for a moment. Say your peace, get number, say bye, and move on! She was with friends so you could’ve introduced yourself to them, sat down, and made a bigger impression on them.

Don't start off with "can I compliment you?" Question just do it. Then go from there. You are giving her a chance to reject it.
