All these cliques in high school...... they don't matter if you can talk to people as if they are people. Listen to them actively. Follow-up with what they say, about what they just said.

I've seen people who were firmly in a particular group, but talked and related to everyone in all groups as people and were accepted by all because of it.

Unusual? Yes. But absolutely nothing wrong with it.
