Any tips on when taking a risk is crossing the line? For example what might be too forward or creepy in a cold approach?

I did an approach today (working at 1 per week to start) and did this too. I was buying something at a vending machine, turned around, saw an average-ish looking girl sitting alone at a table, turned back and thought to myself "eh, she ain't even that pretty". Reality is I'm scared of talking to random girls, so I just went 3-2-1, walked over and had a conversation with her. LOL I wasn't able to get her number but whatever. Good learning experience.
I do the same thing in the gym. About to hit that squat? Fuck me, I'm scared lol I've never done this before. Fuck it, 5-4-3-2-1 Go. Confront the fear to grow.
