Since it's a 3-set you have to approach and open (say hi to) the whole group. Don't approach as a pair. Your wing man has to learn to come in later, to occupy the friends so you can isolate your girl. He should never approach with you. You have to discuss this with your buddy and make sure he knows how to wing ... or else he is no good at all.

So you approach all three, say anything (like Hi I'm Galicula) then immediately ask the other 2, "hey your friend is cute, is she single?" And put your arm around the one you like. Smile and say, "we're a cute couple eh?" or something, but then let go, take a step back and if the 2 girls are giving you the all clear, you can engage your girl and make small talk like, "I saw you looking at me and I had to say hi", or, "cool dress". And so on. Vibe with her, find out logistics, try making plans for later and/or number close her, say you have to go find your other friends, and leave her. You can return later to chat some more and possibly lead her to another venue (or even to another part of the club), because you've basically made her "your girl".

Winging: 2 guys can help each other meet girls and get them on dates etc. if they follow this simple plan.

Guy A sees a girl he likes. If she's with friends (female, male or mixed), he goes over by himself, opens them (says hi and introduces himself), banters and chats with the entire group, gets their tacit or explicit permission to focus on the girl he likes (either by asking if he can talk to her, asking if she's single, or saying "she's cool she's my girl OK?" or doing something like, after chatting with the whole group, focusing on her and saying "but what about you what do you think?".

When Guy B sees that Guy A has successfully opened the group and he knows which girl Guy A is focusing on, he walks over. At first he chats with Guy A and says any shit like, "hey Bob didn't show up" or "wassup bro". Guy A talks to him for like 2 seconds then introduces him to the group. Guy B smiles, says hi, and starts chatting up the friends. Not Guy A's girl! The other ones. He occupies and entertains them. He could run a routine like, "who lies more guys or girls", tell a joke, or say "who's got the best shoes here" or he could game the girl if there is just one friend and he likes her (or he can take one for the team and game the ugly girl for a double-close).

As soon as Guy B starts his stuff, Guy A backs up and turns slightly to make his girl turn a little bit away from her friends so that he has her attention. He can lead her with a very gentle touch on her arm or waist (not pulling her). Don't lead her away, her friends want to keep an eye on her. Now he can run game having her full attention, and since he's facing her friends, he will see immediately if any of her friends has broken away from Guy B and is about to cut in and cock-block. (more about cock blocks later). Running game means vibing (finding common interests), teasing a bit, subtle kino (not groping/makeout or her friends might freak out), finding out her logistics (where she's staying, who is her ride), seeing if she's down for an after-party or a day-2 date, getting her number and so on.

So if one of the girl's friends gets away from the wing man or a random person comes over to cock-block, the only chance for Guy A is to spot them coming and be ready to immediately engage them. Don't let them say whatever they want to say. That means, interrupt whatever they were about to say, introduce himself to the cockblock (if it's a stranger) and either introduce the CB to the subject you were discussing or start a new thread like running a routine such as an opinion opener.

If the CB doesn't leave on their own but sticks around like a leech, probably the only chance is if the wing man pops in and occupy them so you can finish with the girl. Or you will have to say 'bye' to the girl and reconnect with her later.

Guy A doesn't occupy his girl for too long, to the point where her friends want to drag her away. You want to vibe, talk about possible future plans (after party, food, date), number close, and bring her back to her friends (even if it's just turning around again and letting her re-engage with her friends). If it's late and a good time to pull then work it out with the girl, her friends and possibly your wing. If it's still early, tell your girl you'll see her later, or lead her and/or her friends to the dance floor or bar, or say 'see you' and go around the bar being social with other people, dancing or whatever. You reconnect with her later when it's time to pull or time to say goodbye until you contact her for the date.

That's a really quick version of the stuff in Lance Mason's old Pickup 101 product, "Charismatic Conversations". Never seen a simpler, more actionable description and demo of night game and winging.

That's ALL a wing does. Less than that is useless, any more than that and he's a cock-block.

No problem. I like giving and everything but it's actually selfishly really good armchair practice to read about guys problems and brainstorm, give myself a review of techniques and stuff. Typing that forced me to encapsulate and summarize 10 hours of Lance Mason into a script that I can actually follow.

If you're a guy who likes to spend (waste) his time absorbing a lot of PUA "materials" for learning purposes, look for the torrents of old Pickup 101 products. They stand the test of time IMHO and there is nothing creepy or retro about them (except some of Lance's clothes lol). The 4 really good ones are "Fearless First Approaches", "Charismatic Conversations", "Physical Confidence" and "Spy Cam Seductions".

You can see Lance literally following this script in his personal infield in "Spy Cam Seductions" gaming a girl he meets at a festival. His buddy Sean does a similar routine with a Latina girl and it gets complicated when a cockblock interrupts to point out his friend who is trying to film it surreptitiously. The other coach Daniel has a really fun solo daygame stop with a Chinese girl that has a "boyfriend objection".
