Which sex selects? Darwin suggested that it is more often the female than the male who selects among potential mates. Although this generalization appears to be broadly correct, it remained unclear for nearly a century why this should be the case. Biologists now seem to have reached some agreement in their explanation, however.

In most species the costs to the female of producing offspring are relatively great. Typically, she must provide the embryo with yolk as a nutrient reserve, or she must nourish a foetus throughout an extended period of gestation. In many animals the provision of post-natal care falls to the female alone. One expects, then, that females will commit themselves to such an investment only when conditions are optimal for reproductive success. Since the quality of the male mate may represent a very important condition in this regard, one expects females to be highly discriminating with respect to potential mates.

By comparison, the costs of reproduction to the males are usually low. The males of most species can produce millions of sperm cells and can copulate with the females at relatively little expense in terms of time and energy. Males may attempt to increase their production of offspring, if only marginally, by mating with inferior females in poor environmental conditions. Even such very slight chances of success are likely to warrant their reproductive efforts when the costs of these efforts are low. Such a view is consistent with the general observation that males will court and copulate with a wide variety of females including, if given the opportunity, those of other species. On the other hand, females are generally “coy” and slower to be aroused sexually, and they will permit copulation only after a more extended exposure to males.

ANALYSIS

It seems that, in nature, the costs, to females, of reproducing are greater than the costs to males.

But we do not live in nature; we live in society, an artificial version of raw nature.

The costs of reproduction, or choosing someone to boom boom long time with, are lowered when women can choose to use birth control. So a woman does not have to make sure her mate is grade A before deciding to fuck him. Also, even if she does have a kid with someone then there is still little risk as she is able to initiate divorce, take a large portion of assets for herself (and the child of course) and go on a shopping spree.

It is still advantageous for the female to find the “best” mate. In this case “best” means the one with the most money as this increases the monthly payment due her each month. Intelligence does not necessarily count as a good thing in the male, as someone who is on to her tactics is less likely to fall for the trap. So in this case you have the Beta bucks, who is just smart enough to get his 60 hour a week job while she does the pool boy, but who is just dumb enough to fall for the commercials he sees on TV that tell him he has to go buy her something expensive for Valentine’s day.

Males, on the other hand, are ready to bang anything that moves, including land whale 4’s and 5’s, who post pictures on social media in order to open up the “M’lady” floodgates.

The unintended consequence of this, however, is that the 4’s and 5’s become super bitches and take down the level of feminine qualities because there is no social repercussions to their behavior.

This is great for “society” because you will have men trying to outcompete one another by working that extra hour at their shitty job so they can hopefully get “lucky” and bag that solid 4 on Facebook. The big corporations increase their productivity, the women are happy (and corporations happier) because they get access to the bank account whether the men like it or not, and the men are too tired at the end of the day to fight the system.
