Don Draper is a fictional character, as are the women he interacts with. Don Draper's act works because it was written to work. Fantasy != Reality.

You're right that it works in the show because its fantasy - but real life women are undoubtedly attracted to Don, based on how he acts in the show.

I'd say it's John Hamm's good looks that make that character palatable to women. Put Steve Buscemi in that exact same character, and I guarantee you he's a creepy chauvinist.

Touche. Valid point.

The character is very charming and appealing, but I can't imagine any woman who has ever seen the show wanting to be involved with him. He a serial philanderer whose whole identity is a lie and who can't seem to be truly honest with almost anyone. However, I only watched through season 3, so maybe he evolves. Still, he made his wife feel bad and guilty for asking very basic questions about her own husband.

Implying that philandering and lying aren't attractive? Really?

hasn't swallowed.

Well, to be honest, i guess it depends if you are on the giving or receiving end of it.

Funny thing. Women find you more attractive when they know you are fucking someone else. As long as they get to fuck you too, they don't mind sharing and usually get off on it. All my plates know who I am fucking, sometimes when, and they feel slighted if one gets it more than they do.

I think it depends on the relationship. As long as everyone's on the same page and it's all out in the open, great. Betraying someone by going behind their back when you made a promise to them, not as hot- ask anyone who's been cheated on.

Which is exactly why I tell them I am sticking my dick in someone other than them. I'm honest about it, no behind the scenes or dishonesty. I don't get the same courtesy from most of them, so I simply assume they are fucking someone else.

It's fiction. So what? We can't draw inspiration from fiction, now?

Don Draper is an interesting male character, but I doubt we should follow blindly on his footsteps. If you're into the series, you know he's a very, very conflicted character, with a troubling past and some identity issues.

Mostly I think he's an alpha type, and the way he deals with women and life inspires me. But in this specific situation, I think he should have smirked and left the apartment, exposing the ridicule of that woman cleaning the house naked. By fucking her, it looks like she played him and got exactly what she wanted?

...is it not obvious that she was doing this shit on purpose? If you actually watch the show, the entire episode leads up to her throwing her sexuality in his face because he kept trying to pick and choose when she could turn him on. He's been the one with the shit tests (pretty much all he does on the show).

Acting this way is a great way to get accused of rape in this day and age.

Don Draper's played a good-looking guy though.

You should watch latest season episode 3, Don goes full BP.

And Megan rejects him when he shows his weakness. Shes accepted all the awful things he's done but as soon as he shows vulnerability she kicks him out. His ex wife Betty was the same way. She stood with him through all the cheating but kicked him out when he showed his vulnerability with telling her the truth about being Dick Whitman.
