I don’t know if this will work in every situation, but I’d say walk straight up to the whole group. I imagine being singled out would be flattering to her. You also might get collectively rejected, but who cares?

Imagine if it works. You walk up to a group of hot girls, push 5/6 of them aside, say something to the hottest one, and walk off with her. Bonus points if they’re out celebrating her birthday: her friends will probably applaud her for getting picked up like that.

Actually I was going to mention that. I think even if you approach one of them alone (which would probably be a very short window, it would be obvious you were scouting her) you’d probably get shunned by the whole group if you’re shunned by the one. Not 10 times out of 10, but there’s a significant chance that she goes back to the group and points you out and mentions that you, well, scouted her. I’m sure there’s a girl out there who’d be like “this guy wasn’t my type but hey, any of you want him?” And then someone comes after you, but that’s unlikely I think. I’m just assuming.
My instinct would be to go for it whenever you feel comfortable, regardless of whether or not she’s with her group. Even going up and asking her if she can talk for a second alone will stun the whole group. Boldness is a strong strategy.

Yeah that’s what people have been telling me whenever I ask advice for girls and that confidence is key. I appreciate the input it helps broaden my perspective and not make me so pessimistic about the outcomes
