As the title suggests. I live in the UK and travel frequently, however have had little luck finding women that are open to being talked to.

I am a 30 year old male, slightly lower than average looks. The main issue is that I move frequently for work, so don't really have a social group that I am a part of. This is a bit of an issue in the UK, as previous posters have suggested British women tend to stick together in groups and are very reluctant to talk to anyone that is not in their group, reacting aggressively if a stranger tries to talk to them. The only exception I have seen is if the stranger is very good looking.

Before anyone says, I have tried online dating and have found it to be a disaster. Pretty much zero matches, and the few women who I do match with just stop messaging after a few days.

Not that it is advisable, but work doesn't provide any options. The team I work in is all men, most of which are older than me and have wives/kids, so no real social scene at work.

I know I am not the best looking person, but I don't think this is the main issue. When I go abroad I often get women approaching me, and it is usually quite easy to initiate conversation with women I've never met before. However in the UK, you get treated with suspicion and hostility for attempting to talk to a woman you've never met before, which can make it very difficult. Also the legal situation in the UK is worsening, to the point where I am seriously concerned about getting a visit from the police if I say "hello" to the wrong woman.

I get the impression that a lot of "day game" doesn't really work on Brits - the only successful attempts I have seen have been on tourists (James Tusk's videos). Again, this fits in with my experience - British women are very reluctant to engage with people they have not met before, whereas people from other countries tend to be a lot more receptive.

I have also looked on meetup.com - there aren't that many meetups in my town that appeal to women (most are work-related). I have been to a few now - and whilst it is definitely easier to meet people, most people still tend to fall into their own cliques which makes it hard to fit in as a stranger.

For information I live in a medium sized town in the UK that is known for being a bit "middle class" - which probably isn't helping my chances. I am contemplating moving elsewhere for other reasons anyway, but I wonder if I would have more options living in a bigger city - maybe one of the Northern ones.

A separate point - after a few negative experiences, I get this negative voice in my head telling me to stop - that I am a creep / weirdo / loser, that I am only embarrassing myself, that I am a sleazebag that is going around harassing / intimidating women by trying to talk to them. I think a lot of this comes from years of social conditioning, where it has been drilled into me that I should never speak to someone unless I have been invited to speak to them. Does anyone have any tips on how to overcome this?
