When it comes to peripheral vision, guys split themselves in two very distinct categories:

  • Guys who constantly and consciously use it to keep their surroundings in check at al times
  • Guys who still resort to direct vision to achieve the same objective

The second group is way larger than the first one, and I was there until a few years ago. Guys in this group are aware of what peripheral vision is, and they still use it at times. But then, when an attractive woman comes around, either they look at her directly (i.e. they are chasing her already), or they ignore her out of shyness, only to still the odd glance now and then, thinking she won't notice that.

My game, when even the slightest element of background is present (starting from things like getting on a bus, moving to more structured things like the gym, supermarkets and bars), my game consists of having women notice me, ignoring them long enough, and then ping them. I would never be able to achieve that without constantly using peripheral vision, and I would encourage everyone to make a conscious effort to prioritise peripheral vision over direct vision to scan the surroundings.

In that way you will be playing the game on equal footing, since women have been using their peripheral vision to scan their surroundings all their lives.
