For people in college, what is considered dating? Does it all just start as hookups and progress into relationships? Or does it start as talking, then hookup, then dates?

For context, I’ve gotten my first FWB and we’ve been just hooking up consistently for about a month or two now, but not because I’ve set anything up, but we just have mutual friends so we always end up at the same parties and she’ll hang with me most of the time and then we usually go home together, and I’ll sleep over. Is this just normal FWB behavior or is this progressing into something more? We’ve texted a little but I’ve really just been trying to keep it casual and fun. I don’t want to misread the situation so I’m just wondering what the norm is for things like this in college?
