So I have recently moved to a smaller town (50k) population size to start a nursing program that doesn't start until mid January. Now the university I'm going to is about 5k students, but there aren't really any social clubs or fraternities to join. I don't know anybody here.. other than my roommate I met a couple weeks ago. But he just sits at home and games.

Now, I'm a good looking guy and I get looks often. Especially here where the competition is sparse. But I've always been very passive when it comes to making connections.. friends and girls. It just sort of happened for me, being an athlete in highschool.

My question basically goes as such. How do I go about making friends and meeting women? There does seem to be some normal, relatively cool guys at the uni gym. They all work there though. Should I try to chat them up? Should I cold approach girls on campus? I was at the mall today and there are cute girls working in the stores. Chat them up? I just don't want to be a weirdo tbh. I've been very okay for being a lone for quite awhile, but I'm wanting to change and have an active social life, and I'm feeling a bit desperate. Don't really know where to start. I'm sure when nursing school starts there will be ample opportunity to meet people (especially girls).. But then again I probably shouldn't be banging in my nursing school cohort.

Anyways, sorry for the rant. I'm just a little bit lost. Way too isolated.
