I've been lurking on this sub for months, as I'm trying to get better with women since around July.

I am a pretty good looking guy, and in fact I'm also decent with girls but only once I've met them. Every single girl I have slept with, dated, etc. was either a girl who approached me first or someone I just happened to be in the same circle with. Apart from a couple of half-assed attempts I've never approached a woman in my life. I just have this retarded approach anxiety and I bitch out every time.

I realise that the only way to get rid of it is to approach and get rejected so for the past month or so I've been telling myself that I'll start doing it today, tomorrow, etc. but never happened. The closest I got is going out to a club alone twice in the last two weeks. I did have fun but barely achieved anything as far as talking to women goes.

Yesterday was my 23rd bday, had a pretty chill day, then in the evening a friend calls me to go to the bar we frequent for a beer..

As I walk in, the first person I see is this girl who I have very briefly spoken to once around 2 months ago when she was there with friends. She was exactly my type and I wanted to ask for her number back then but as always I bitched out. Ever since I thought about that moment every now and then and it felt really shit, I was hoping I'd see her there again but just told myself to forget it.

So I go to the bar, get a beer and make by way downstairs (that's where my friend was). As I pass the table the girl is sitting at we make quick eye contact.
I go downstairs and sit there chatting to my friend for maybe 30 minutes...

The whole time I was thinking about how I pussied out of it again and how pissed off I will be at myself after I go home and don't approach her, again; even though I told myself that if I ever see her again I am going straight to that fucking table.

I guess the frustration after all these months was too much, along with the fact that it was my birthday (soI'm once again older and not making progress) so I went outside for a smoke and told myself when I go inside I have to go over to their table and ask for her number, now or never.

I get back in, go over, with a smile ask her friends if I can interrupt for a bit (they barely responded but I didn't care) and then turn to the girl.

I introduce myself, ask her if she remembers me (she said ''Yeah, I do'') and then tell her that she intrigued me and I want to get to know her so I'd like her number.

She points to the girl sitting next to her and says ''this is my girlfriend'' and before I can say anything she follows up with ''but I'll give you my fb''.
So she adds me as a friend on facebook, I didn't wanna interrupt their convo for longer so I head back downstairs but before I turn around she says ''so yeah, text me''

At first I thought the gf thing was a lie so she'd get me to leave without her no. but after seeing her fb profile it seems like it's actually legit.

Now, I am thinking of messaging her this evening and since we know almost nothing at all about each other, I wanna invite her for a drink at the same bar where we met later this week. Do you think this is a good idea or too boring?

I have no idea why she'd still give me her number and tell me to text her especially in front of her gf (as I said it's legit, she wasn't lying), but whatever, I went home happy that after 23 years I finally had enough courage to go and approach a girl.

Even if nothing comes out of it, hell even if I never see her again I'm glad that I finally fucking did it and I hope now it will be easier for me to just go for it next time without overthinking and bitching out from doing an approach. After yesterday I know that even if she told me to fuck off I wouldn't care, because for the first time in my life I know what it's like not to have to wonder ''what if'' and it is so worth it. Took me 23 fucking years and 6 hours
