I'm about to go into army in a year (I know but a year passes pretty quickly) Army in my country is mandatory. People there work through a shitty hierarchy, and if you don't watch out they usually take advantage of new recruiters and put them in a hassle. You can get extra days punishment easily for disobeying orders (for example if you do a task, next day it's someone else's obligation but an older in the hierarchy soldier can ask you to do it again, you can report him to the lieutenants but it may also risk punishment) as you understand very strict behaviors.

How am I supposed to not allow them to step on me without arousing controversy and get punished?

How would a red pilled man handle this? It's important to hold frame but it's different in society, you might be dissaproved by individuals but no one will punish you for that.
