First: dress well, groom yourself well, don’t be like every other stupid dweeb - especially in a college town full of dorks and nerds.

Second: work out. You don’t need to be a bodybuilder, but some muscle in your back and shoulders will make heads turn in Columbus.

Third: hate me for saying the truth, but Columbus is still ultimately a farm town. All the women are fake bleached blond and all the guys have stupid goatees, and everybody is fat. It’s not hard to differentiate yourself from that.

Get a couple of sport coats at H&M, and wear them over graphic t shirts, with nice jeans and very stylish shoes. Go to bars or clubs where you can hear... don’t waste your time in places that are crowded or loud. Small places with pool tables work really well.

Get comfortable talking to strangers. Not hitting on people, but just talking, starting conversation. If you can carry on a conversation with a stranger for 30+ minutes, phone numbers will be exchanged. It just works.

Once you have a phone number, arrange a date a couple days later. Meet somewhere for drinks. Play darts or pool or both. Have a good time.

One thing I did in particular is, I never drove. Always had someone drop me off. Casually dropping that you got a ride so you could drink let’s her offer you a ride home, or - quite often - she will offer to take you to her home.

Oh, and it also helps if you can dance. Farm town frat boys don’t dance, but chick dig guys who do.
