I think you are missing the big picture. If you just want to be friends for now, do that. You don’t need her number to be friends. A bunch of texting small talk will just land you in the friend zone.

If you want to ask her out, then ask her out. If she says yes, then get her number so you can text just enough to set up a day/time/place.

A number should never be the goal. It is just a tool to reach the goal. Used incorrectly and you are friend zoned. Used correctly and you will be on a date.

If you’re going to be around her often anyway, then I wouldn’t rush it. I think you should give her a little bit of time and see how she acts around you over the next few weeks. Who knows, maybe she’ll make a move. If not, but you’re still feeling like she is interested, then you can make a move. Idk, I just think it can’t hurt to take it slow and build more tension for now.
