"The Game" is a very good read, but it's an entertaining story more than anything, and that's how you should treat it.

For books on seduction, I suggest starting with "Getting Laid In NYC" by Paul Janka - it's short (only 17 pages), jargon-free and contains pretty much all of the basics... Plus it's available for free online, I think Janka himself made it publicly available, either way you will have zero problems finding it. It's not the best in general, and I don't agree with everything that's in there, but it's the best one to start with.
