Don’t be afraid of losing her, that could cause you to do things that will end up pushing her away. Don’t try to formulate a sentence that could get her to stay in contact with you. Just say something simple like “ok I understand what you are feeling I’m fine with giving you space”. And if it ends so be it.

It's really up to her at this point. It sounds like she's not over her old bf, and there's nothing you can do about that. Keep your options open, and that includes meeting other girls. If she's into you, she'll make the effort. Stay in contact, but don't press her.

Ima tell you from experience cut her off she still love dude and you were somewhat a little rebound. So make her feel it by cutting her off and see what happens if she fall back then she wasn't feeling you like that but if trying to get in touch with you then she do like you.
