What you did was right. You did better than most people - rather than lie you were honest about your feelings. And you cared about another person's feelings which many people aren't normally concerned about.

I'd say have a heart to heart conversation with her. Tell her that you miss being with her(don't be desperate while saying it). Say that you would love hanging out but not keeping things serious. Hard to do but who knows things might go back to how it was.

If not move on to someone who is compatible.

instead of saying you’re not compatible, tell her you’re not looking for something exclusive and instead just seeing where things go. this way you’re being honest and if she’s down for that then you’re both happy
