Girls play the friend zone card for one of two reasons typically:

She's just not feeling your masculine energy and is therefore not interested. Most common causes of that are you're over-invested/simping, failure to make a move, or she was never interested in you and you hid your intentions.
She may like you on some level (i.e. was interested, physically attracted etc.), but you're just not a romantic/sexual priority for her and she wants to put you on a shelf. Most common causes of this are the reasons from Scenario 1 + often another guy they're more interested/invested in, like an ex they're hung up on or someone in your social circle that they have a stronger attraction towards.

Regardless of whether it's Scenario 1 or 2, it all works out to the same thing - she's just not that into you. And the solution is the same.

Pull back right away and nip any developing crush in the bud. If you get one-itis (which often happens because you're so invested and emotionally intimate with her), it'll take years and major personal development to reset her impression of you as a man. Avoid being dramatic and like ending the friendship (unless you do already have one-itis and need a clean break for your own sake), just soft-next her. Respond to her messages but do not initiate.

Ultimately it's not a bad thing to be friends with girls. Provided you stay in your masculine frame, don't put them on a pedestal, don't simp, and don't start having an emotional affair with her, she could easily be open to sleeping with you when the circumstances are right. Some of the best relationships a guy can have are FWBs because it's intimacy without commitment, and it can be somewhat liberating for both of you. That being said, if you want to keep her as a friend and you're worried she might catch feels if you two start fooling around, best not to go there.

The friend-zone is basically her way of saying "you simped too hard and handed me all the power. Even if I think you're cute, even if I have fantasies about you, I just don't trust you as a man to sleep with me and not get weird/make me feel like a slut."
