Over time I’ve had long periods where I couldn’t find any dates, others where I couldn’t handle all the dates; I’ve had great partners and no partners. There have been times where I’ve felt happy and proud and others that have been dark and lonely.

Really the only constant truth has been a lack of control. However my investment in the long game has led to gradual improvement of results over time.

I think that the healthiest way to avoid attaching yourself to the inevitable failures is to focus on your own improvement.

For me this has looked like investments in my career, hobbies, communities, house, health, friendships, knowledge of relationships and dating.

Ultimately I think the best strategy is to focus on what you can control, knock it out of the park, and let go of the rest.
