I wouldn't say that it means he's really fucked, I would say that it means that his tolerance for what life has thrown at him has reached critical mass and he needs to release it somehow. I'm sick and tired of hearing how Men can't emotional when we are. It's just, for whatever reason, it's taken away from us and we're left largely hollow and empty.

I cried when my sons were born and my mom held them for the first time. I have everything I could ever want, but I just have a bit of melancholy since my dad isn't here to experience it with me (he passed two years prior). He was the best grandad to my niece, so I know he would've lit up my boys' life too. It's that combination of happiness, grief, and appreciation that gets me. So no, it doesn't mean your life is fucked. You can cry for so many different reasons.
