This discussion is more philosophical in nature than practical, and I understand this is sub is primarily concerned with matters of law and institution, but I wanted to share a viewpoint on human nature, given that this sub is truth-seeking to the point of bucking the suffocating political correctness.

What modern global technology and social media brought, in combination with post-war progressive culture, is an ideological belief, that perhaps builds upon an inherent need for benevolence in humans, that we humans are all warped in a fabric of a global family. "We are all in this together" is essentially the mantra of both the right and left wing, in so far as they aren't radical or uncomprimising.

This sub should be well cognizant with the fact that empathy for struggling and outcasted males is as controversial as fascism, and attempts to attract empathy to the struggles unique to the male gender are often met with extreme hostility and antagonism from both progressive vs conservative circles.

This experience is precisely what has lead men to ponder over the nature of human empathy: are we really selfish individuals or can we hope for a global family?

The countless experiences I have had with people, and particularly the glaring hypocrisy and contradictions of their beliefs, has really lead me to believe that for every act of kindness, benevolence, and warmth, there is a question behind them that asks "what's in it for me?".

Human empathy is wrapped in inescapable Solipsism, to put into words how a user on this sub brilliantly described it "the vast majority of people aren't interested in justice on a consistent basis, but will happily bend the language of justice to increase their own power and privilege".

It seems that we often envision humanity as a hierarchy, where all humans are embedded in a hierarchical pyramid of close bonding and connections. What I would rather imagine is that we are all in a wide 3-D plane, and each individual is represented by a single topographic tower, completely separated from the other 8 billion and can only interact with another human subject in as much as the two are willing to do so. In other words, the idea of an inherent empathy being a given has great limitations.

To put it in another way, most humans tend to have a radius by which their empathy extends: it starts with the individual, then their family, then extended family, then friends, neighbors, coworkers, people of similair religion, people of similar nationality, people of similair gender, and after that it's just unrecognizable souls that aren't compatible with the subject's empathy.

I have long had a vision of a Leninist/Troskite type world where a perfect ministry coordinates the lives of citizens in a fashion that obliterates all tyrant and inequality. My hope for that is completely hammered due to the glaring selfishness I have witnessed on so many people.

Notwithstanding that, I am still centre-left in the sense that I support universal healthcare, free higher education, the dignities of marginalized people and so on. But to be fiercely honest here, I will no longer do it out of humanism or empathy, but rather I solely seek to do that to promote democracy, one that I and my family can enjoy.

TL;DR

The more I learn about human nature, the more I see the man is fundamentally self-serving, thus I no longer hold a globalist communist type ideology, but rather I have come to embrace a moderate form of individualism whereby I stay loyal to myself, my family, friends, and community, all else comes second. And with that, I have done well to promote my own mental health, which has suffered tremendously over my life much due to feminist and radical leftist promoted guilt.
