I (27m) work at a hotel concierge for a high volume hotel. I'm not confined to a desk and most of my activities occur on the hotel driveway or in the lobby if I'm not attending rooms.

There's always people coming in and out of the hotel waiting for their friends, Ubers, taxis, pick up etc and when you have spare moments you might chat. Sometimes I'll 'cold approach people (both men and women) about where they're heading or something about their style or if they're Uber is lost/stuck.

This is the only setting I cold approach in. I'm still new to cold approaching and I don't really do it outside of work. I only really tried it IRL in Thailand because it's abit of a relaxed environment and I did have success but I'm not confident in doing it in my country yet. But that's a different story.

There's been times I've cold approached women (even if I've briefly dealt with them before) and the conversation has flown decently. I see this as good practice for cold approaching. However, I think because I'm a staff member the women feel more comfortable and secure engaging because there's a work boundary. If this happened outside of work, I think it wouldnt go so well. So does this setting of cold approaching still count? Can one of the more senior guys answer this?

I'll add, by no means am I trying to fuck or date any of these people obviously because it's work setting. I do it more to socialise, pass the time and practice my conversations with women to use in the real world at some point.
