Just wanted to come on here again and write about something else I notice. This is not exclusive to instagram, but on my feed I am constantly bombarded with "tradwife" and "dating coach" reels and other similarly related posts of women showing off their man and how much of a provider he is, ranting about men not wanting to be a provider, emasculating those men for not wanting to be one, or showing women how to "girl boss" by... losing all independence and being reliant on a man? Interesting. It's no secret that the man being a provider is a traditional gender role, but I figured in 2024 that most people had let go of that, especially women. But man was I wrong. They want to be treated as equals and afforded all the rights that men have, which is extremely un-traditional, yet expect men to be a traditional provider and you're "not a real man" unless you are.
Of course this isn't all women who hold these beliefs, there's some amazing women, but it's very upsetting to see so many women push this. It's incredible how it's so normalized for women to expect so much from men and/or be a "stay at home wife" or a "stay at home girlfriend" who needs to be fully provided for and pampered so that she can stay in her "feminine energy", while it's also so normalized to emasculate men for not wanting to fulfill damaging gender roles. When questioned, besides insults, they commonly say that just her presence is more than enough payment for a man, but men are obligated to provide for them and spoil them or else he isn't enough. They also don't like being told they should fulfill their stereotypes as a woman (if they expect it from men) and that you are an incel for even suggesting that. These women come off as the female version of Andrew Tate (which is ironic because his gender stereotypes would upset them). Why is men's value dependent on his success as a provider, while women's value is something she's born with? It's disgusting.
I am not a proponent of gender roles, and I try to fight the urge of commenting. But when I do, or see others speaking up about it, it always gets men emasculated, humiliated, called "not a real man", called weak, told homophobic comments to "just date men if you can't provide for a woman", and called an "incel" by those same nasty women. I've even seen women saying that natural selection will take care of the "weak" men and that their bloodline won't survive. All that just because some men don't want to be forced to subscribe to gender roles and gender stereotypes by those same women would hate to be forced onto their own gender stereotypes and gender roles about themselves as women.
They also always try to simplify it down to "men are just being incels who hate on other men who want to provide for women" or the most frustrating, "All the broke men in the comments are crying". That's fine if you want to be a provider, but those things aren't the problem. Men are upset about being FORCED and obligated to be one. That's what a gender role is. Interesting how these women are anti-gender roles when it is to their detriment, but fight so hard to be traditional when it's to their benefit.
Then it seems like these same women would chose "the bear" to hate and rant about men. They hate men and don't trust them, yet they expect you to be a provider for them to keep them in their "feminine" and will emasculate you for not wanting to.
I wanted to see if anyone else has noticed this or tried to fight back against it and has had the same dozens of experiences that I have had.
