A Sydney high school teacher has been rearrested and charged with having sex with a second teenage student under her care.

Tayla Lee Brailey appeared in Wollongong Local Court on Friday after being arrested on new charges of having sexual intercourse with a person under 17 in her care, sexually touching a person under special care, and inciting a person under her care to sexually touch her. She was arrested at a Mangerton home just after 7am Friday.

The 30-year-old has also been charged with using a carriage service to solicit child abuse material, using a carriage service to access child abuse material and possessing or controlling child abuse material.

In court documents, police allege Brailey sent the teen explicit videos of herself and performed a sex act on him in a classroom before propositioning him for sex.

Police have interviewed several students at the school as part of their investigation.

Brailey is facing separate charges over a different student after she was arrested earlier this month and charged with having sexual intercourse with a person aged 17 under her care, as well as sexual touching and aggravated sexual assault of the same boy.

Police started investigating that first case of alleged abuse on August 6. They arrested her at the south-western Sydney school the same day.

The following day she appeared via audiovisual link from custody at Liverpool Local Court, where she put her head in her hands and cried when the court heard the maximum penalty if convicted was four years’ jail.

The court heard Brailey made admissions when speaking to police after her arrest and gave officers her phone, which had material that further strengthened their case.

“There is an acknowledgment from the defendant of her wrongdoing,” the police prosecutor said.

The court was told Brailey admitted to speaking to two other students on social media, in addition to the alleged victim. Police were investigating the type of conduct between Brailey and those two other students.

Officers were also investigating videos found on the alleged victim’s phone and forensically examining his car, the court heard.

Brailey was granted bail to live with her parents in the Illawarra region, not leave the house without them and abide by a curfew of 9pm to 7am.

She must not enter the suburb of the school at which she works, any educational institution or any international point of departure.

Other conditions include surrendering her passport to police, not accessing social media, reporting to police three days a week and not going near any child unless under supervision of her parents.

On Friday, Brailey was granted bail on the same strict conditions as earlier this month. She will return to court on October 2.
