It is women who bring homophobia into society because they ignore men who are too feminine. This results in large numbers of men consciously wanting to distance themselves from homosexuality.

Hate to be that guy but

Actually, ancient societies such as Ancient Rome & Greece never were the "gay paradise" a lot of people make them up to be and were, in fact, often highly homophobic; not to mention that the form of "homosexuality" that was seen as socially aceptable back then was essentially, men fucking underage boys and "lesser men". Sure there are myths about gay lovers but if you look them up they rarely if ever tend to depict 2 fully grown adults, and those that do tend to be historically sketchy at best (see Poseidon & Nerites, Apollo & Hyacinth or Zeus & Ganymede and for a real life example Hadrian & Antinous).

Ancient Sexuality in the "Greco-Roman" world only has 2 clearly defined roles and everything outside these roles was seen as deviant:

Those who penetrate: aka, adult (citizen) men.
Those who are penetrated: aka, women, boys, lesser men.

Hell, the very term "homosexuality" was coined in the late XIXth century, and so was the idea of homosexuality being a thing you were (identity) as opposed asa thing you did.

Now, in terms of Patriarchal societies being the source of homophobia, I will say correlation does not equals causation.

Yeah cause surely there isn't a single homophobic woman anywhere. And if there is, they must have been Influenced by the men of the patriarchy. /s
