Good evening fellow gents, I hope you're all doing well. I wanted to bring up the topic of men's boundaries because I know we all face a lot of pressure and expectations. Let's use this post to have an important conversation and come up with ideas to better protect ourselves. Also, this will be the official transcript for the newest episode of the Hybrid POV on my YouTube channel, so please check it out!: (MODS please let me know if you have issues with this, I'll get it handled right away)

The Hybrid POV #2 - The Cold Hard Truth About Men's Boundaries

Welcome to The Hybrid POV, where we don’t just talk—we unpack. And today, I’m bringing you the truth so raw, that it’ll slap the mediocrity right off your soul. I’m your host, Roy Hybrid—CEO of The House of Hybrid, here to drop some heavy, unapologetic knowledge. We’re going to talk about something that everyone’s been dodging like the IRS... boundaries.

But not just any boundaries—our boundaries as men. Especially as Black men, autistic men, and really, any man trying to survive this emotionally gentrified circus, we call Western society. Yeah, I said it—emotionally gentrified.

So grab your drink, strap in, and let's get ready to dive into how society is out here expecting us to just take it all, no boundaries, no self-respect, just bend over and be grateful. And let me tell you, that ends today.

The “Man Up” Trap: Society’s Favorite Joke

You know how it is. Society loves telling us men to “man up.” But what does that even mean? Because the last time I checked, “man up” just means, “Hey, we don’t give a damn about how you feel, just shut up and keep producing.”

Listen, I’ve heard this in relationships, at work, and from family. They want you to keep it together, but they don’t care if your mental health is looking like a burnt-out candle at a cheap birthday party.

And look, this "man up" nonsense is like the plot to every Katt Williams joke—funny as hell until you realize it’s your life they’re laughing at.

Cue Katt Williams voice: “Man, y’all telling me to man up? MAN UP?! I BEEN MAN-ING UP MY WHOLE DAMN LIFE! Where’s the check for that?!”

Where’s the medal? Where’s the gold star? No? Okay, cool. I’ll just “man up” some more and pretend like I’m not dying inside. That’s the Western way, right? We got a society that’ll praise you for breaking your back until you literally fall apart, then they’ll put up a sad emoji when you die early from stress.

The Unspoken Reality of Being a Black Man with Autism

Alright, here’s where we get real personal. I’m an autistic Black man, and let me tell you, that’s like walking around with a bullseye on your back. Society already expects Black men to be tough as nails, like Bernie Mac tough. “I ain’t scared of you…” Nah, I’m scared of me, bruh! And it’s because the world won’t let me be me.

See, when you add autism into the mix, the whole game changes. I need boundaries like I need air, but society is out here acting like I’m asking for too much. It’s like being autistic and Black makes you some sort of exotic malfunction—too complicated for people to care about, but just interesting enough for them to use you.

Look, I grew up in the South, South Carolina to be exact, where support for Black autistic men is as scarce as a funny joke at a bad open mic night. People don’t respect your space, your needs, or your right to just be. They bulldoze your boundaries like a bad government housing project.

And it’s exhausting. You feel like every day is a game of dodgeball where life’s just throwing bricks at your head, and if you don’t dodge fast enough? Boom. Game over.

The Workplace: Where Boundaries Go to Die

You ever notice how the workplace is where boundaries go to die? Like, you walk in there with a soul, some self-respect, and maybe a little hope, and by the time you clock out, they’ve drained it all out like you’re a phone with 1% battery and no charger in sight.

Now, as the Founder and CEO of The House of Hybrid, I know a thing or two about setting boundaries in a world that hates them. I’ve had people try to steamroll me, acting like just because I’m kind and generous, they can walk all over me. Oh, you thought because I smiled at you, I was soft? Nah, fam, you got it twisted. My kindness ain’t weakness.

And trust me, if you don’t stand up for your boundaries in the workplace, they will eat you alive. Especially as a Black man. They’ll slap “diversity hire” on your back and expect you to dance for the paycheck while they pat themselves on the back for being progressive. Meanwhile, you’re over here having to work twice as hard to get half the respect. Tell me that ain’t real.

Toxic Love & Sacrificing Boundaries in Relationships

Alright, now we’re about to walk into the minefield. Relationships. And I don’t care if you’re autistic, Black, white, or just breathing—this is where the boundary-breaking Olympics really starts.

You ever been in a relationship where you’re doing everything to make it work, but every time you turn around, your partner’s pushing you to give more? More time, more energy, more money, more of your soul—until there’s nothing left?

Cue Bernie Mac voice: “These women out here testing us, man! Testing! Want me to do all this extra sh*t. Hell, I’m already running on fumes!”

That’s toxic love, fam. You think you gotta be the provider, protector, and problem-solver, but no one’s protecting your peace. You stay because you think that’s what being a good man means. But let me tell you something. Being a good man don’t mean being a doormat. If she ain’t respecting your boundaries, leave her on read. Period. You deserve peace, not a 24/7 headache.

The Cost of Sacrificing Boundaries: Mental Health and Burnout

Look, we’re not just talking about feeling tired or annoyed here. We’re talking about real mental health consequences. Depression, anxiety, burnout—yeah, that’s the tax you pay for not protecting your boundaries.

You sacrifice yourself over and over, trying to please everyone else, and before you know it, you’re mentally checked out. I’ve been there. I hit rock bottom mentally and emotionally because I let people push me around for too long. That sh*t will put you in the ground early if you let it.

But guess what? Ain’t nobody sending flowers to your funeral for being the nice guy who never said no. They’ll just move on to the next one.

Reclaiming Boundaries and Reclaiming Yourself

So what do we do? How do we stop this madness? It’s simple: you gotta reclaim your boundaries. I don’t care if it’s work, relationships, or family. If people aren’t respecting your space, your time, and your peace, it’s time to let them know: “The store’s closed. No more free sh*t.”

And look, I get it. Saying “no” is hard, especially when you’ve been taught your whole life that being a man means saying “yes” to everything. But trust me, once you start protecting your boundaries, life gets a whole lot lighter.

So that’s the message today, y’all. Boundaries are not for sale. I don’t care if it’s your boss, your partner, your homie, or society itself—your boundaries are sacred. Respect yourself enough to demand that others respect them too.

And with that, I want to ask you this final question: What boundaries are you reclaiming today? I want to hear it.

Till next time, this is Roy Hybrid, out.
