Can we just stop already with the idea that men created gender roles? Like, it's a mix of biological factors, and societal evolution toward survival, and men AND women both contributed to the emergence of recent gender roles. Just as men AND women are fighting to change those roles (and some women and men are fighting to keep these in place).

Hell, if you take into account the fact that women are basically the sex responsible throughout history for mate selection, and therefore for controlled evolution, women are the ones responsible for birthing men that are, as a rule, stronger, bigger, etc... And by selective pressure, going to the more dominant men for pairing, women are responsible for the societal pressure on men to be assertive and socially dominant.

So, in a way, women are more responsible for society, gender roles and all this shtick than men are.
