It has been over a month and a half since we agreed to divorce. We had a rough 3 weeks where it was chaotic trying to acclimate to the new norm. We live in BC, Canada, so we can't even file for divorce until we have been separated for a year. The goal is to sell the house in March and then go our separate ways, but in the meantime, we are playing nice. Lately, I have been feeling depressed. I am questioning if this is the right path. I think it is partly fear of being alone and partly thinking maybe being unhappy to an extent in a marriage is what's normal. I have never lived alone. I went from my parents' house to living with my wife. I just have a lot of doubt, and I think us playing nice is creating plenty of room for doubt. Because it has been nice—no more stupid fights, and the passive-aggressive comments are the lowest they have ever been. I don't feel like I have a ton of energy, and I am doing the bare minimum at work. I have 0 drive at the moment. And I keep asking myself if I am throwing my life away by going through this divorce. I hope this is temporary because, logically, I can remember all the reasons for the divorce, but all the logic in the world isn't making this feeling go away. I know emotions are, by definition, irrational, and I have a hard time dealing with emotions. Is this a stage? How long will it last? When will I feel normal?
