Could be a number of reasons.

You're nervous. Adrenalin kicks in meeting strangers. You talk faster. This has the effect of talking from your throat and your tone rises.

Fix: Practice slowing your speech down. Make sure you breath from the chest and speak lesson. Wear a rubber band on your wrist, when catching yourself talking quickly, snap it and slow down.

Forcing the conversation. You feel the onus to keep the conversation flowing however this manifests as either interview style questioning, or supplicating agreement. You're either asking short sharp questions and never rambling or giving short sharp agreements.

Fix: Withdraw within yourself. Remember amused mastery. Their responses aren't that important so long as you get the gist. And neither is what your say. It isn't necessary to have them talking the most, indeed most people will feel more comfortable with strangers if you lead the conversation and talk more. Ramble. Remember to slow down.

Body Language. Poor body language causes testosterone to release slower (even over a matter of minutes).

Fix: Practice alpha body language. Make yourself big, take up space, move languidly. Adopt the contraposito(sp?) as your default standing pattern.

Trying to be happy and positive. When talking with strangers. Always smiling, quick to please. This is related to point two above. You're not like this with your friends.

Fix: Smile less. It is overrated once you have a person in conversation. Be more strong and stoic, less happy bubbly, high energy. That's a hard skill to pull off and still be masculine.

I used to to this. In my case, because i was such a nice guy wanting approval of the others and wishing everybody loved me i would use a submissive voice tone. Just talk to strangers like you would talk to your friends.

i watched a video about this a few months ago

when we talk to strangers, our voices naturally go high to build rapport and sound nice and yes it does make you sound like a little bitch. Try to talk to strangers with your neutral voice
