Handle this issue by worrying about your pleasure first.

If you're truly worried about contacting herpes, you should be more worried about receiving oral sex then giving oral sex. Oral HSV1 is very common(54% of Americans have HSV1) and now causes 30-50% of new genital herpes infections via oral sex. Oral HSV2 is very uncommon, accounting for less then 5% of oral herpes infections.
