Is it unfair for me to want more coverage of societys violence against men?

When watching the news you often hear "societys violence against women" and why it has to be stopped and so fourth which is incredibly important ofcourse but you will nearly never hear "societys violence against men" which i find weird since it's more prevalent.

I brought this up with my parents wanting to discuss it and they immediatedly looked disgusted framing it as me wanting to take coverage away from women but i explained to them that i just want it to be more equally brought up (i wasn't talking about mens violence against women or vice versa but rather societys as a whole). My parents said that all the men that are subjected are criminal, i brought up reciepts proving that theres still more innocent men attacked than innocent women. At this they refused to believe me saying how their older so their right by having more experience and qoute: "seeing more news"

When i kept reinstating that evidence says a diffrent story they responded saying i was being misogonistic and a manpig and wanting to diminish women whilst constantly agreeing with eachother on everything using that as a argument "we are 2vs1" you know.

Their argument was that "mens issues is always put above womens" which i partially disagreed with making them mad. Then they called me a bad argumenter because i went of statistics rather than their age? Which i found very confusing. They refuse to even hear me out any time i bring up any issue men have and pretend like i never bring up womens issues whilst i very much do (more so than men) since it's usually more covered.

They also argued that men getting killed is covered more since we are killed more often which i responded that i meant in the context of the violence as a whole being discussed and not specefic cases which they thought made no sense?

Am i in the wrong here? Should i hear them out or should they listen to me for once?

Thanks in advance for outside perspectives!
