Hey Fam - it’s been a minute since I’ve posted though I have been following the threads since I started the divorce journey 2 years ago. When you’re in the midst of the battle it can be all consuming, once my MSA was signed by the judge I needed a mental break for a bit.

After going through an incredibly nasty divorce that resulted in largely obtaining the terms I wanted, which was primarily 50/50 residential custody of my then 1 year old daughter, I now find myself headed back to mediation to resolve post judgment issues. My ex wife almost immediately failed to meet the terms of our agreement though I could live with that because they were minor issues, disagreements, inconveniences etc. Over time though the antics and shenanigans just kept getting worse to the point we’ve had an almost total break down in communication where she’s lawyered up and I intend to proceed pro se.

We had periods of relative calm, even politeness and warmth, but anytime she doesn’t get exactly what she wants, can’t take advantage, its a meltdown of epic proportions and I just cannot live like this anymore.

Want to hear from anyone that has had to deal with post judgment mediation in NJ or nearby states? Major issue is that she wants to reduce my custody and parenting time and relocate, which would cause all sorts of logistical issues and could not possibly be best for our daughter. I’m willing to stay put, out our daughter first, and be reasonable, but she needs to put our child front and center before doing things that benefit her first and foremost. I am almost positive mediation will fail so I am resigned to continue fighting this out, just want to know how others have fared in similar situations.

I am speaking with my attorney from the divorce soon to get her take, and will consult a few others as well, I would say I have a 75% chance of prevailing because she doesn’t follow the agreement and there is no good reason to justify the relocation except its what she wants, but you never know with family court and I want to be prepared.
