In my opinion one should at all times endeavor to be respectful, even pointedly reverent toward the parents.

Certainly you don't need to be guilty or bend over backwards to change for them; be respectful of who they are, you don't want to throw anything from your superior life strategy "in their face", or enter into arguments about certain aspects of your divergent beliefs. Listen what they say, say "OK, I'll take that into consideration", and it's done. Then you do what you decide to do man, not what anyone said you should, including the parents. Encroachments into your private life should also never be tolerated, simply declare it off limits in a polite way (like you would with your boss for example).

The RP man is not a confrontational man-child, he is a swiftly moving force onto himself in a world of chaotic forces, going hardcore upstream where necessary, with the flow where possible.
