How do I stop my existential dread?

The world isn't dying. This world will be around a long, long time after we are gone. We are here a brief time, so it's really your call in what you want to do and how much of your life you are willing to devote to the cause.

Find yourself an overarching life purpose to focus your energy and attention on. Absolutely the world is full of shitty things, but it's also full of amazing things too.

You sound very much like how I did when I was horribly depressed. Depression is fucking terrible, but you can fix it. Go find yourself a good psychologist, it will definitely help.

Yours is a problem of severe apathy, but you're wanting to change/fix it, and that's the key there.

Treat the dread as if it were a projection, and pursue from that angle. That's how I was able to solve mine. In TRP lingo it would be a frame issue. The fame conceptualization doesn't completely capture the hows and whys that are necessary to integrate it.

I usually feel decently great throughout the day, it's when I lay down to sleep when the existential horror show starts playing in my head making it hard to get rest. I'm gonna start trying to exercise a lot more so I was basically collapse into bed and hopefully break the cycle. It does suck though.

You can't ignore these thoughts. Try to change them. You have a choice between optimism and pessimism. And these thoughts simply resemble pessimism, or downright cynicism, rather than "existential dread." Perhaps you need to realize that these questions you're asking yourself are not reasonable, but, instead, indications of a depressive mentality. I think that you can overcome them by realizing that they're not profound but weak rationalizations.

Use the dread as a fuck it mentality.

Risky family business? Let me fail it and learn to be a better businessman.

Life seems insignificant? Great, now you got no excuses to do whatever the fuck you want, without any true consequences.

You don't find the ocean sexy anymore? Find a better ocean.

Everything you dread IS REAL. But it's how you trick yourself into making the best of it.
