It goes for most instances unfortunately. "Its in the best interest of the child" is politically correct spin to gain moral justification to steal from the father. The child is the excuse the family court system uses as its smoking gun, you disagree or think its unfair? Then you hate your kids and you are a terrible parent who deserves to have his kids and assets taken from him.
I have a cousin who is a single mother due to her own shit attitude that drove her fiance away, the guy was first class character, a great father and used to tell me how crazy he is about his son over a few beers. He decided to cut ties with his ex and her family including his son, it simply was not worth fighting the biased courts and paying hefty legal fees just to get supervised visitation for four days a month.
He told me that if she wanted to keep his son away from him and poisin his son against his father then so be it, thats her choice to live with.
He is moving to thailand for a teaching position, he doesnt think anyone suspects that he wont be coming back but i do.
Its time for men who are going through these kinds of emotional blackmail by the court system to harden their hearts and see whats happening. Their kids are being used as weapons against them, to keep them compliant, obedient and putting money into the legal system. Its disgusting

At first glance, it's pretty much the same as the CoL in the US.
The difference, is where the money goes.
In Thailand, the necessities (Housing, Utilities, Food) are cheap. Which I believe plays a huge factor in why Thais are so laid back (aka: Thai Time.)
The real costs come from doing the things you enjoy, not doing the things you need to survive. The inverse of how life is lived in the US.
Wanna take your motorbike on a ride through the beautiful mountains?
Gas costs 2x.
Don't let that get you down though. If you live in the city, you'll get around cheaper by taking public transportation than by paying for your own gas.
If you live in an area like Chiang Mai (quieter, cheaper, & less polluted than Bangkok), you'll need to rely on your own transportation.

Are you certain? My childhood friends parents decided to preserve their mariage for the sake of him and his two sisters. I can still remember how they used to fight and scream, door would bang, plates would smash and windows would shatter and my friend would simply turn uo the volume on the tv as we played psx.
Guess what, he is a drug addict living on the streets and i see him every now and then and offer whatever change i have, he is HIV positive but from what ive seen it looks like he has full blown aids but im no doctor. His younger sister is in prison for setting some guys house on fire with diesel, im not clear on the details but it has something to do with a meth dispute, she has horrible teeth and thats what makes me suspect she is a meth addict just like her brother. His older sister is a single mother of 9, 6 of which have different fathers and lives in poverty, were it not for the government grants she receives for the kids she would be on tbe streets and her kids in the system, she is also an alcoholic, i know her well and contact her when i need an update on her brothers status.
How much you wana bet things would have been different had their parents chose to divorce and move on? Coming home every night to someone you hate in order to maintain familial stability is illogical.
This is anecdotal yes, i have quite a few more anecdotal experiences to divulge that give me in the least first account personal evidence that marriage in this day and age is bullshit and if you think you could make it work good for you but dont discount that women are not likely to remain amicable, they are more likely to create conflict because it suits them.

Occasionally the judge will compromise with fathers who want full custody by allowing them to pay child support to the mother, because that's usually the reason mothers want the kids in the first place.

In the eyes of the judge it is simple, if the father is willing to pay the clearly gold digging mother for custody then legally the judge is free to allow it. There is no law that states it as unfair or not allowed, however immoral it may be it is legal. this is what the family court system thinks of and treats men.

The simple proof that it is woman support rather than child support is that it is completely unaudited.
She can spend that money on ANYTHING and there are no comebacks. Brand new iPhone while the kid gets crappy clothes? No problem. Spending money on drinks and drugs while the kid goes hungry? No problem.
The money goes into her bank account and it is hers.
When you hear women complaining that she's about to lose child support because the kid is going to college, you know she's making a profit on the deal.
