I am 22 year old freelance writer living in Canada. In a few months I will be relocating to Chiang Mai, Thailand. The small city is known for its digital nomad community and cheap cost of living. About 3-4x cheaper than Canada.

I'm looking for general tips and advice from someone who has moved to Thailand or moved from a 1st world country to a 2/3rd world country. What should I look out for? How can I avoid being ripped off just because I'm big strong west man?

How is the internet service? I have heard it's way better in the last few years with 10mb/s dl. About half of what I'm getting now but still enough. Internet stability is important as that is how I communicate with all my clients and complete my jobs.

How is prostitution in Thailand? I know it's illegal and it seems to be widely accepted. Are gogo bars (strip clubs with hoes) generally clean? Are Thai women more or less crazy than western women?

As you can see I have a lot of questions. If you have any similar stories (trips, vacations, etc.) I'd love to hear them.

Edit: Please don't answer if you don't have any experience or real knowledge to share. Lately I have seen a ton of answers from people that seemingly have no idea what they're talking about.
