Been lurking for a while, but this is my first time posting here. I'm not positive this is the correct sub, but figured I'd go for it anyway. This is quasi-rant/quasi-legitimate question.

Here's the story: I was in a relationship with this guy for a little over a year (we'll call him Ken). I broke up with him last December, and ever since then he's gone back and forth with wanting to be my friend and straight up sending me hate messages over facebook and text. Whenever he seemed friendly I would be friendly back, and whenever he sent me any sort of harassing messages I would just ignore him.

We both go to the same college, and about three weeks ago I get a call from the police station of the town I lived in saying that they wanted me to come in for questioning involving an investigation with Ken. I said no problem, I'd be right there and went over. I was thinking he was involved with drugs or something and they wanted a character witness. Next thing I know, I'm being read my miranda rights and I'm being asked about our sexual history, including if I ever tried to have sex with him while he was asleep, what "role did I play" sexually, etc. After about 20 minutes the detective let me go and told me I wouldn't hear from him again and the investigation would be closed.

The next day, I get a call from campus police and I have to then go there for questioning. When I get there, it's not only a campus police officer, but also an investigator from my county's SVU. I'm asked even more personal questions about our relationship. I eventually show the investigator all of the hate messages I got from Ken and let him know that I'm absolutely stunned by all of this because last I had thought, we were on good terms. The investigator told me if I didn't hear from him in the next couple weeks then I can assume the investigation had been closed.

So basically, Ken went to the police station and filed a false sexual assault report against me, for a relationship that ended five months ago. He's always been the kind of guy who gets an idea and runs with it, and I know that just a week before all this happened he went to some sort of rally called "Take Back The Night" (its kind of like SlutWalk), which is a rally for victims of sexual assault. Great, Fantastic, I'm all for it - but I'm guessing that he either ACTUALLY believes I raped him after being brainwashed by this rally, or is just making this up in some sort of act of revenge. He's also a radical feminist.

I just can't believe all of this. I knew that my ex was immature, but making up false rape accusations is absolutely disgusting. He knows that I want to be a teacher and that this can ruin my future career. Its been three weeks already, so I'm assuming the investigation has ended because he has absolutely no proof of anything or any specific dates, but I'm going to call on Monday just to make sure.

So my real question is, is this enough grounds to file for a restraining order? He's never actually threatened to physically harm me, but he's about three times come up out of the blue in the past 4 months, either harassed me, or pretended to be my friend and then harass me, and now this, which has really shaken me up. I just don't see how he can do something like this and get away with it.

TL;DR - Title
