Often times men's issues are silenced in government...literally. What do I mean by this? If I go and try to contact Sen. Tammy Baldwin, a Senator of Wisconsin, right now, her message topics for emailing her will include "Women's Issues" but not "Men's Issues", "Gender Equality", or even an "Other". I'm currently trying to get Sen. Baldwin's office to change Women's Issues into Gender Equality or adding Men's Issues, but they are unfortunately dragging their feet a bit. (I'm not giving up.) I'm not trying to pick on Sen. Baldwin either, because MANY government representatives have a system like this.

What we need to do is free up the conversation for Men's Issues in government. One of Sen. Baldwin's staffers had the audacity to tell me that the list isn't meant to be all-inclusive and is based on what topics they get the most messages about, but I asked why they couldn't change it to Gender Equality to simply make it a bigger issue, and they the staffer had no answer. Then I asked how people are supposed to message them about Men's Rights if they don't have a topic for it, and the staffer gave the lame response of people can use any topic even if it doesn't fit.

We need to help people understand that they can message the government about Men's Issues, and that this is a legitimate movement. By getting these topics to include Men's Issues, we will be encourage people to speak to the government, and we will be creating conversation.

Please feel free to contact Sen. Baldwin's office, and the office of other representatives as well. Let them know you want Men's Issues included in their contact topics, and feel free to bring up other issues such as imprisonment, divorce, custody, health care, etc. If we don't let our representatives know we care, then our representatives will never know it's politically beneficial to care about men's issues.
