I was talking with my friend over the weekend. He doesn’t claim to be RP’d and just says it’s rebranded common knowledge, but sounds verbatim to these ideas. We are both lates 20s by the way.

He said that we are the type of guys who will “fall in love every few years”. He’s on the fence about marriage just like me, because if shit goes sour, having to give up half of our shit etc... He also claims attraction and love die after about 8 years.

We both lift (used to lift together when at same office building), both have good careers and both have decent side gigs. We both have friends getting married, some with kids and some getting divorces.

To the “older” and wiser men on here, is this true? Are we as society, including myself, brainwashed into the notion of a life long partner? I know how to read women now and how to vett them, but some day I wouldn’t mind “settling”. I’m 28, so not in the future.

And this by no means a pity post. I have friends getting married or will propose soon and it won’t last and they’re wasting potential, and I’m not even near my peak. Finally getting my own shit together and results beginning to show.
