RPW does not advocate being in a relationship with an abusive man. If you already ended it I'm not sure what you're looking for by posting here. Could you be more clear on that perhaps?

I suppose just trying to understand the whole thing. The main thing I find confusing is that he felt used because I happily dated him for some time, ten ended it. I suppose I didn't have much serious intention to be with him forever, but I suppose you never know at the start, just sort of see how it goes. Sometimes I wonder if I did string him a long a bit, because there was certainly a period where he saw it having long term serious potential, when I didn't. Not sure really, just trying to understand the whole thing. I feel some level of guilt that I can't quite place.

The RPW stance is:
(a) Recognize your own faults and work on self-improvement.

(b) If you are single, find a good man whose leadership you can trust and be a good first mate to him. The sooner you can find one the better. You give him your best years when you're young in exchange for him being with you in your post-wall years, by then you would have proved to your captain that you are worth it.

1 why are you not looking for anything serious? Is it that you are unwilling to give up riding the cock carousel? How old are you?

2 why did you ignore the red flags in the beginning of the relationship? Potentially abusive guys usually come with huge red flags that women just ignore and hamster away.

3 are you still communicating with your ex?

I just don't believe that you can enter into a relationship already deciding it is going to be forever and always. You just don't know until you've got to know each other a bit and see how it works out, I suppose. A serious relationship is not something I think you can force, just have to wait til you meet someone who it is works out with. I don't know what the cock carousel is and if I as ever on it (to be fair, this was always my ride of choice when available, not a boring pony http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-VG-6Pi_JjJs/TaN9Ys5nj5I/AAAAAAAAJgg/eJHii3kXWsI/s1600/chicken.jpg ). I'm 25, I have a brilliant relationship now. I would hate to do anything bad or wrong with him, because he's great, and past mistakes are a good way to learn I suppose.

I suppose in retrospect you can see the warning signs. But at the time I suppose I gave the benefit of the doubt, forgave things. I am not saying what I had was definitely an abusive relationship, but I strongly believe that even very intelligent women can end up in one. It's difficult to imagine, but of course, abusive men start out very nice and charming. Else they'd never get anyone to be their victim in the first place.

Definitely not still in touch with him, that wouldn't be good for either of us.

Then I don't know what you're doing here, hamster. Next.

What does hamster mean here? I'm not trying to be argumentative, just wondering what I said wrong. I am lucky enough to be with a really wonderful man, and I want to learn from past mistakes, so that I never make him feel bad, and also I suppose just to deal with and understand a past event that ended up being quite painful and difficult for me, and probably him too.

Couldn't find it, I'm assuming it's something to do with a woman who doesn't implement a particular planned strategy in her relationships? I suppose my approach failed me in this instance as the relationship didn't go well, but then again it all worked out well next, because as I say, things are great now. It's funny when you find someone amazing and think 'thank goodness all the different choices I made and things that happened all lead this way'. I have to enjoy the happy accident of bumbling through without a mating strategy, yet having a wonderful outcome, like someone finding gold in the river just by chance, that had alluded many others who had been panning diligently for it. I hope true love finds us all in the end, it's a beautiful thing :)
