The way I see it you're far too young to worry about "sluting it up" just yet, or even serious relationships or boys for that matter. Things you can do for now to set a good basis:

  • Helping others, not only teachers but also your classmates (so you're being helpful to everyone, not just sucking up to adults)
  • Keep developing your creative side (dance and other stuff you like, maybe drawing or watercolors)
  • Keep the boys in yor class as friends only and don't lead them on if you don't want a serious relationship
  • Keep yourself healthy and fit with nice grooming and eating lots of fruit to make your skin glow and getting a good base so you won't get bad skin later in your teens
  • Study hard and get good grades. It looks like it doesn't matter now but culture is very important, as is work ethic, no matter what you end up doing
  • Try doing something to nurture your love of children, perhaps asking a local orphanage or something if they need a hand. You could even organize a bake sale at the school to raise money for them!

Basically, be as kind and sweet as you can to everyone and don't worry about or invite drama into your life

Thanks so much for the tips!

  • Helping classmates... check (except for math, gah)
  • I doodle but I'm bad at it haha. Would drama work too?
  • This one I'm a little unsure on. I let guys flirt with me but I don't flirt back. Is that OK or should I be telling them to stop?
  • I loooove running and almost always eat healthy.
  • I know grades matter. I try hard and usually do well (again except for math grr)
  • Thats a really cool idea! I dont think we have an orphanage around here but I'll ask my principal about the bake sale in the fall :)

Of course drama would be just fine, try creative hobbies you enjoy! About the boys, unless they are making you unconfortable just take it playfully and stay friends

About the bake sale, it's just an idea, you can raise money/awareness for any charity of your choice or do something else entirely. I just mentioned it because you're a bit young to babysit on your own and this is another way you can help local children.

Another good tip that's helped me a lot is finding good rolemodels. Maybe a nice neighbour/aunt/teacher or even someone you don't know in person. Choose a couple women you'd like to be like when you grow up and spend some time with them so you can learn stuff from them

Yeah I'm kinda stuck on the rolemodels thing. At least for women. I have a few guy rolemodels that I respect so much but there just hasn't been a woman thats made me have the same amount of respect. I feel bad cause I just don't see my mom like that. I'm so thankful for how's shes taken care of me but shes also single and I... kinda think I get why...

[–]gabilromariz0 points1 point2 points 12 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

It's normal for teens to have trouble seeing their parents as rolemodels. When you were a kid you looked up to her and she could do anything. Now you guys are starting to butt heads for the first time in your life and you now understand she's just a regular person and not some kind of mom superhero. It's a rough adjustment and that's why I didn't suggest her. When you become a full on adult yourself, it'll be easier to be friends with your mom and know she did the best she knew how for you.

Do you have any teachers at school you like? How about your dance teacher or even someone famous or a character on a movie/book? Keep looking, I'm sure you'll find a good one even if now seems impossible

I have some female teachers I like yeah just not on that same level for some reason. My dance teacher is basically a drill sargent haha. I love her to death and shes gotten me as good as I am but she scares me sometimes.

Keep looking, I'm sure when you start keeping your eyes peeled someone will show. It won't be perfect, but someone you like x trait and someone you like y trait can add up to one good rolemodel
