Hey ladies, have a female friend coming to visit soon and don't know how to react to something she's said. What's the best way to handle this?

First of all, cool username... ;)

I wouldn't read in to it too much.

She's your guest, and you're putting her up in your place, hosting her and planning on making her five days fun-filled. It takes a lot of energy to host a guest, even if it's a best friend. I'm sure she'll be grateful for all of it and isn't truly expecting you to go completely out of your way to give 100% of your attention to her.

Hopefully it was just a small fear disguised as a bad joke. I'm assuming you're past the age where you'd just let your friend sit in the living room while you & SO make out on the couch. Based on what you said about making an effort to make sure people aren't left out, it seems that you're quite conscious of how other people feel and you take thoughtful steps to make sure that people feel included and enjoy their time.

If you want, when you first see her just give her a quick run-down of what to expect. "We'll see Mr Cl3ophatra later tonight and then probably for dinner most days, and maybe we'll all go out for drinks on Saturday, and the rest of the time I thought you and I could spend together, what do you think?" then you've addressed it, managed her expectations, and showed her you were being thoughtful and took her statement in to consideration in a serious way.

Other than that, I personally wouldn't make a big deal out of it or doubt yourself or make a big fuss by insisting on having a conversation about it. Just be that gracious, beautiful hostess with the mostest and be confident in however you design your time while she is there. If she's a good friend she won't make it an issue.
