Females have embedded in their mind a certain 'pattern' a man must adhere to when it comes to sex, dating, and the process of courtship. In what is approaching a truism in the 21st century (or may have already reached the status of a truism), the man must sufficiently adhere to this pattern to be eligible for a relationship or any sexual interaction. Any deviation from the pattern will label the man 'needy,' 'creepy,' or 'weird.' The pattern manifests as follows:
The man must approach. The man must be be confident. The man must engage physically and emotionally. The man must inquire. The man must intrigue. The man must ask for and obtain information in regards to future communication (i.e. phone number). The man must follow up via those routes of communication and the man must persist (but not too quickly, lest he be cast back into the lot of 'needy,' 'creepy,' or 'weird'). The man must chose the location and timing of a date. The man must not arrive late nor reschedule (lest he be labeled a 'flake'). The man must remain charming, aloof, and mysterious. The man must not attempt to initiate sex at the conclusion of the first date, lest he be labeled 'desperate.' The man must again wait to contact the female for a subsequent date. And on and on and on...
The modern process of the 'relationship' - be it sexual or romantic, or both - forces the man to act and the female to react. The man is the sprinter, the truisms are the hurdles and the women are the judges. They've been imbued with a sense of superiority, either through their upbringing, social interactions with other women, culture, or a combination of the three. They believe (know) the man must assimilate to this pattern (which, stated, is a truism) to be worthy of their attention and/or affection. Failure to abide to the pattern, at any step of the way, is destructive in the man's aim for sexual or romantic satisfaction.
Put another way, the man must appease the woman, but must not seem too eager in his appeasement, lest he end up alone. And we know what women typically say of men who are, say, 30, and have refused to abide to the female dating psycho-structure: 'Why would he be single? There must be something wrong with him...'
