I've answered this exact question in some level of detail here. Though I'm pretty sure your question was rhetorical, on the off chance you may actually want to know my reply you can find out why it's important to me there. EDIT: I actually went ahead and answered it again from a different angle anyway.

Thanks for the advice buddy but I already lift. If you want to believe that this is just one big, contrived example of the crab-bucket mentality, then that's fine. I do indeed have a tendency to put men on pedestals - it's something I've done since I was a child and that I'm actively working on (I think it most likely stems from not ever knowing my father and growing up with a single mother), but GLO was not one of the dudes that I had placed on an unrealistic pedestal that towered above me.

Most of us are trying to get to roughly the same place, and I personally believe that to get there you have to find mentors - not idols, not gods, not dudes that spoonfeed you exactly how to think, but solid masculine mentors that we can turn to when we need it. If you're lucky enough to have a masculine, alpha father in your life then you are relatively lucky. Many of us don't have the privilege - they either grew up fatherless or their dad is a bitch (or both). Many turn to the media for their masculine role models, but that is doomed from the outset - following a fictional character for guidance isn't just retarded but it's totally ineffective, hopefully I don't have to spell out why. The way our culture is now, many of us will have friends, brothers & male family members who have had their head filled with the same blue pill shit that we're trying to get away from. They've been reeled in hook, line & sinker and are good little consumers who nurture their fantasies about the fundamental nature of people - worst of all, many aren't just asleep but actively don't want to wake up. Where does that leave us? It leaves us with the fucking Red Pill. Like-minded guys in a community that will try our best to unplug each other, cheer us on when we're progressing, calling us a bitch when we're acting like one, and often forcing the pill down our throats when part of us wants to go back to sleep.

Naturally, we seek out mentors. We seek out people who have cut a way through the path we want to blaze down, who have been where we are and are achieving many of the same things we want to achieve. For a lot of us - especially those on the start of their journey (a few months of consistent implementation has IME bought me together with like-minded guys, but in the beginning I was lost in a blue sea of the wilfully and ignorantly blind & deaf), they need mentors. They need examples. They need proof that this works, to inspire them and help them to move forward.

This is where GLO comes in. He talks the talk - he posts a lot of great advice, and it's delivered suitably harshly and unapologetically, and it's obvious why he has the following he does. However, this video suggests he's a fucking charlatan. His castle is made of sand. Do you want to be like Boy A that can write acerbic, eloquent, massively-upvoted posts that have testosterone dripping from the words but who turns into a shaking, stuttering faggot when he steps out into the light of day and has to talk to someone? Or do you want to be Man B, who's pulling women, commanding respect of the men around him and is manifesting these principles in reality? If you imagine you're back at the start of your red pill journey - which one of those guys' posts do you want to spend your precious time & energy reading & implementing?

Dude, have you read my thread? The main reason I posted this at all is because I can't find it. I am focused on myself, but in my opinion it is beneficial to have an idea of whether the people who are submitting content that a lot of people read are actually full of shit and don't practice what they preach. It wouldn't even be an issue if the guy was just posting self-evident truths & advice to guys, but he makes a point of continually lauding his enormous ego (often at the expense of personally attacking other users, which I am expecting if he ever gets around to reading this) and painting a picture of himself as the embodiment of TRPs principles.

Hypothetically, if a guy was getting a lot of credit for posting diet & fitness advice and presenting himself as having the physique of a demigod & then a current video surfaced revealing him to be an obese, slovenly landwhale, then I am certain that drawing attention to that video would be in the best interests of those who were taking note of his content. Similarly, when GLO presents himself as being an alpha with unshakeable frame who dominates his social interactions with charisma, confidence & the mighty strength of his cast iron ego, I think it's relevant to draw attention to a video of him stuttering & awkwardly mumbling his way through an interview with one friendly dude asking him simple questions. If you personally don't care, then that's fine. Move on. I think others will be interested.

Still, I think none of us here are actually "natural alphas", and come to think of it most men are not even close to being alpha.

Back when we lived in caves or the African savannah, in the environment that natural selection had crafted us to master, in the time & the place that our genes craft our bodies & minds for, there would have been no confusion over the "alpha male". If there was confusion, nature would have quickly resolved it, and one man would have emerged victorious. The nature of our society has massively blurred the definition of an alpha male. Our social groups are much, much more complex - we have to seamlessly alternate between many, many different dominance hierarchies every single day, to the point where unless you are literally Brad Pitt or Donald Trump then it's unlikely that you are going to be the uncontested alpha male of every single hierarchy that you hop in and out of as you go about your life, further complicated by the fact that what exactly constitutes an alpha male in their actual traits, now that we don't have the relatively simple life of hunting, constructing shelter, fucking & fighting to provide a universal "proving ground" for the alpha male to emerge from. These days, what constitutes the alpha male can change so often and reverse so dramatically that it's almost become an ethereal concept not grounded in anything concrete. In another Red Pill thread I remember a little scenario that illustrated this perfectly - the leader of the Crips gang we'd assume would feel like he's the alpha male in every setting in his life - until a banker drives past him in the street in a Bugatti.

Notice though that I said almost. Thankfully, women's tingles and the natural shuffling and formation of social hierarchies can't lie to us, and don't get confused by the varied roles of the modern man in our unnaturally enormous and incredibly complex groups of people that our brain attempts to process as a tribe. This is why certain key traits keep getting identified and constitutes a definition of what an alpha is. Notice they are almost exclusively personality traits and part of your fundamental character rather than something like your wealth/assets/clothing - ultimately, a dude can be dressed in super expensive designer clothes, driving a lamborghini and extremely wealthy and still beta as fuck.

In my opinion, and it seems to be the general consensus, an alpha male is someone with high testosterone levels - I think this is the fundamental basis to it, and the common traits are just the outward manifestations of their testosterone. An alpha male is aggressive (can be literally aggressive in the violent physical sense or determined in the pursuit of goals), has very high confidence with an absolutely solid frame that cannot be rattled easily, commands at the very least the respect of other men and very often their admiration (they are never subordinate socially, they are nobody's bitch) and with women will quickly establish a dominant-submissive dynamic and so has no significant problems with maintaining a healthy sex life. These to me seem to be what makes up the "alpha" that is talked about on TRP. I'm sure many will disagree with me. In my mind it seems that a lot of people are confused about what exactly makes up an alpha male because a lot of people tend to overcomplicate it - often through general confusion & ignorance that will naturally develop from trying to apply a clear-cut concept like the dominance hierarchies of our ancient ancestors and trying to apply it to something as huge and complex as human society. The other main reason I see people confusing the definition is a product of these mental gymnastics that many users do (especially new users), twisting the definition so that they can become an alpha in their own mind without actually putting in any work or objectively improving whatsoever - it's a lot easier to hamster a twisted definition of alpha then it is to actually strive to be one -"I haven't had sex in 6 years and I have no friends and I don't lift but I truly don't give a fuck at all so I'm the actual alpha!!! "I do everything my fat nagging wife tells me to and haven't set foot in a gym in over a decade but I go to my job like a good boy and I spend all my money on my kids which I cuddle all the time so I'm the real alpha here, stepping up like a man!!" etc.

Wow, that turned out a lot longer than I expected. Anyway, now that I've tried to explain what my understanding of the terms are, maybe you'll see why I get confused when I read shit like:

I think this is a bit of an overstatement. Plenty of fantastic threads have been made by guys who certainly are naturals, and have come to explain how when they read TRP it suddenly all clicked and they suddenly understood not just how but why they were so successful with women etc, because they had picked up the gist of social dynamics from a very early age just because of their very high social intelligence & their naturally high testosterone levels. There are also many stories of natural alphas who went through most of their youth/adolescence/early adult ages being their naturally dominant selves until external influences like the prevalent feminized culture, their bluepill friends/family or a girlfriend/partner/wife who the guy mistakenly followed the words and not the actions of ended up slowly eroding the guy and wearing him down until he's almost entirely forgotten how he used to be and is without exception depressed. So, naturally most of the kinds of people here aren't natural alphas, but they aren't as rare as you present them either.

This has baffled me. Yes, there are many, many bitches walking around thinking that they're men and acting like boys. Yes, the very nature of alphas mean that they are going to be in a minority compared to the betas, but we're talking the top 5-15% here, not the top 0.000000001%. If alpha males are so rare in your mind that there are almost none in the fucking world then you seriously need to re-evaluate your definition.

His posts are indeed very alpha. However, I find it deceptive and unworkable to compartmentalize like you. I hold myself and others to a high standard. I cannot feel satisfied that I am striving to be a self-actualized man with all that I've got based on the fact that my posts are hyper-masculine whilst I have the knowledge that if I'm ever actually in the real world I can't even conduct a simple interview without looking visibly shaken & frightened. That doesn't describe someone who is "pretty alpha". It describes a fraud.

We can't convince you to listen to TRP's advice, its up to you to decide whether you trust these guys or not.

You have totally misunderstood me. This is in no way an attack on TRP, and the fact that my criticism of one member has somehow been conflated with an attack on the entire philosophy is a disturbing indication of how entwined the personalities of individual members are becoming with The Red Pill itself.

Don't get me wrong. There was nothing wrong with the actual content of what he was saying. I'm sure if he was alone in his bedroom having the same interview on skype or through personal messages he'd have delivered it with usual panache & bravado and he would have presented himself as a secure, confident, masculine guy.

However, he wasn't in his bedroom this time. The guy interviewing him was really, really friendly and clearly wanted GLO to do well - it's not like the interviewer was being antagonistic or anything. It's a little hard to watch GLO try his hardest to hold his frame - you can see it written all over his face how he really wants to keep it together, he really wants to be the guy that he pretends to be on Reddit, but his shaking voice, frightened expression and the fact he can't even meet the guy's eye makes it obvious what's happening. GLO isn't an idiot either - he clearly realizes how he's coming across, and you can watch the poor boy try and pull it back, but it just makes it worse. It's honestly quite hard to watch - at the end GLO forces a really awkward and unnatural looking smile and then as the interviewer wraps it up it looks like GLO is close to tears.

It's not a particularly easy video to watch, but I think people should see it and keep it in mind so that when they read quotes like this from him they can get an accurate picture of the guy it's actually coming from:

At what, exactly? Taking a bunch of steroids? Getting high off of his own ego and producing an obscene amount of content? Yes, he certainly was good at writing a lot of posts where he would browbeat the people reading them and try to encourage people to be more like the fictional character he was posing as. It's just a shame that he can't back up all that talk because in real life situations he goes full on sperglord and acts as nervous as a 12 year old boy being babysitted by his drunken uncle who always wants him to sit on his lap. He'd be pretty cool if he had even basic social skills - however, don't you find it hypocritical to a ridiculous extent how he implores people to be alpha/dominant/masculine when he himself hasn't got the absolute bare basics like fucking eye contact down?

I understand. You have built GLO up in your mind to be this hyper-masculine alpha guy who is an inspirational role model and you wanted to be just like him and now that you're hearing that the person he presents himself as may be a fictional construct and you're like a child who first gets told Santa isn't real - you're shocked and don't want to believe it. It's perfectly understandable why you'd feel like that, but don't let it upset you too much. Use it as fuel for your fire - sure, GLO was a fraud, but that doesn't mean you have to be as well. Take the good from gay lube oil - his online character - and discard the bad (his real self) and take it as a case study in why its essential to actually practice these skills in your daily life, lest you end up all jacked with a head full of theory but not able to hold a conversation.

I think you are really understating how he appeared. It wasn't slightly nervous like just stepped on a stage to give a speech nervous, it was more little boy separated from mother in busy shopping mall nervous. Do you not remember that lost, panicked look in his darting eyes as he desperately stared at the interviewer after his answers trailed off? The way he couldn't hold eye contact with the guy for longer than second and delivered most of his answers to the ground or to the side? The way he nervously delivered his answers about masculinity in a voice that was audibly shaking? The guy that presented himself in that video (and remember there was only one friendly guy who was also a men's rights activist and a cameraman, so hardly a tough fucking crowd) and the guy who posts under the name Gay Lube Oil are in such contrast that unless there's evidence to the contrary (aside from just his own testimony) then it would appear that the persona he presents on TRP is not just an exaggeration, but an entirely fictitious character that he has devised but has yet to implement in real life. The only similarities that I could see were the interests in men's rights and the fact that both his online character and him in real life were into lifting - other then that, they seemed totally different. Watching that terrified guy try to talk about being confident with people is an absolute joke.

You say he's appeared on TV and seemed very confident. Do you have a link to it? If he has improved himself and has managed to bring his balls with him when he goes away from his PC now, then I commend the guy, but I'll believe it when I see it.

Yes, this is indeed ballsy and I applaud him for it. However, there's a difference between creating a twitter account & actually being the guy he presents himself to be. A central tenet of his content is about being very confident and dominant - he presents himself as a hyper-masculine alpha male, and in my book key characteristics necessary to be anywhere near that kind of guy is having a totally solid frame, able to very easily bond with men and emerge as a natural leader or at least not be subordinate to anyone in your social interactions, and being very aggressive & dominant in sexual pursuits and able to quickly establish the natural male-female dominant-subordinate dynamic.

You may disagree with me here, and that's fine. You may believe that that kind of person reverting into a frightened, anxious little boy because he's met a relaxed, friendly guy with a camera is totally congruent with the poster of GLOs content. You may think all it takes to become that kind of guy is to pump yourself full of steroids, get a decent physique and ensure that you can cite statistics about divorce & attack feminism on the internet. We may have different ideas about the kind of men we aspire to be.
