First off, this is a new account that I made for the purpose of not exposing the username that I use for pretty much everything.

Now that that's out of the way. I'm 17m, a senior in high school. Don't worry this isn't another "omg guys a girl talked to me what do I say" kinda things, don't have those issues anymore thanks to you guys. But rather it's about the absolute toxicity in my parents relationship, almost purely at the hands of my mom.

My mom has been an alcoholic ever since I was a little guy, the first major issue i remember "that i could comprehend mind you" was back on new years eve 2009, when she got blackout drunk and flashed one of my dad's wind technician school classmates. As if that was bad enough, she's admitted to repeated affairs with 4 different guys (throughout the marriage) , I'm sure there was more... even going so far as to taking my younger brother to one of their houses back when he was a toddler. I've locked myself in bathrooms multiple times, and called my dad on the phone asking him to come home from night school because "mom's drunk and going crazy again"

My mom has hit the wall, she's 38. Of course this is amplified by the fact that in her early to mid 20's she was a model, appearing in a bunch of different ads and magazines for car company's and stuff, literally thriving on her youth and looks, but all of this has to go away at some point, so she got a job working as a secretary at a law office. This is when things really started to go downhill (also when the aforementioned examples of behavior took place). 2010 comes around and my parents file for bankruptcy and we lose our house (largely due to recession, it was the first home my parents bought), my dad was working at a phone dealer at the time, but then the dealer shut down and that's when he decided to go to the tech school. Mom's alcoholism gets worse and she starts drinking out of coffee cups while on the job.

2011 my dad gets a job under the department of energy on contract, not a full fed position. A few years after, around 2013, my mom gets laid off from the law office, but manages to land a job at the same location as my dad, obviously this ends up being a huge example of don't shit where you eat, except he brought the shit to his food.

Fast forward to now, I'm doing pretty good, I've been involved in my school's afjrotc program, i'm captain of the precision rifle team and our stellar xplorers team(nerdy space satellite shit) and I have big aspirations of joining the air force. I'm working hard to achieve my goals and I'm not letting my problems in the past or my parent's marriage slow me down, but I'm seriously worried for my dad and my younger brother. My dad was diagnosed with really severe sarcoidosis, he's had a gall bladder removed, an appendix removed, and a long line of concussions going back to high school football, with the most recent being falling off my grandma's one story roof while trying to pressure wash it about 4-5 years ago. My dad isn't a blue pill beta bitch, he's a tough guy and has taught me very valuable lessons in becoming a well rounded man. I love him very much, but both me and him recognize made a fatal mistake in marrying his highschool sweetheart at the age of 18.

The question is, what the fuck should he do? I'm worried that if we stay in the stressful situation we're in, his sarcoidosis will get worse and might even kill him, we end up having to deal with my mom getting a DUI or killing someone in a car accident since she drives drunk all the time, or even both... the issue is that their finances are super intertwined and my dad doesn't want to end up having to raise my brother in a single parent household because he knows what that does to kids.

And divorce being the way that it is, we'd essentially be back at square one.

I know this was a long post, and ended up being more about the effects of alcoholism, but there's plenty of petty feminine shit too. Frequently my mom uses these things as excuses to justify her drinking: she hates her job, my dad has more friends then her and he's happy being successful at his job, he has a good relationship with his parents (my mom does not), and she feels like she isn't wanted(also used to justify affairs) and isn't involved enough in what he does (largely due to her drinking)

My mom has also expressed these unrealistic wishes for her life, basically every time she goes on a drunken rant: she can be happy helping support a family doing a job involving interactions with people (she frequently sites being a waitress but we all know how that would go for a 5/10 post wall 38 year old), be a stay at home mom, feel secure with expenses (even though she has opened separate bank accounts to hide money in to support her drinking habits), and other stupid shit

*The last two paragraphs were meant to hit more of the feminine side of the issue

Back to the question, what should I, and my dad do to make it out of this situation while minimizing impact on financial stability and my brother's(11m) well being?

P.S. sorry for length, this is something very important to me and I've had to deal with it almost my whole life.
