I’m currently reading the Book of Pook, and a common theme that I’ve seen throughout the teachings is that a man cannot successfully get with a woman if he does not have confidence in who he is as a person.
After reading this, I realized that this very reason is why I’ve had so many failures within the last few years of college. I’ve unfortunately been riddled with anxiety and depression, and I think that’s why my sense of self worth has gone amok.
In high school, I was very confident in what I did (to the point of sometimes being an asshole), even though I was pretty ugly, didn’t work out, and had pretty good, but not phenomenal, grades. Naturally, I got a lot of attention from a lot of girls.
Now that I’m in college, though, I get zero attention from anybody even though I look better, dress well, have a great GPA, work out, and am generally just a successful college student. And I believe that the reason this is because I constantly that I believe I’m a failure and will never succeed (due to my mental illness).
I’ve been seeing a therapist for a few months but it hasn’t really helped.
If I had to put my situation into a single sentence it would be the following: I feel like a shell of a person who just mimics what others do, and it’s causing me anxiety.
What have some of you done to stop feeling like a failure and finally get a sense of self worth?
Tl;dr: need help getting my sense of self worth and self respect back, which disappeared due to anxiety about being a failure
