An interesting story. But I am a bit worried about some of the implications here, considering that many are using this as an example of how rape culture is a reality and why those who ignore it are ignorant and such.

Yes, this thing is horrible, assuming it was an actual rape (there is pretty good evidence for that in the story linked), and yes, rape is a serious thing. But that doesn't necessarily mean "rape culture" exists.

In fact, it could be that it may be excess backlash against those who claim "rape" but weren't actually raped.
